How did MNRE implement the almm scheme in 2021?
MNRE implemented the ALMM scheme with an office order, first issued on March 10, 2021. Since then it has been revising the list with the inclusion of more solar module manufacturers and their models. Earlier, the MNRE had brought some reforms to streamline the segment to bring in more quality and efficiency in solar modules.
Can a foreign manufacturer manufacture solar modules?
Also, for government subsidy schemes, you have to use DCR (Domestic content requirement) Solar modules. Any project violating this norm will be penalized, and not get the final approval. As of Jan 2024, ALMM does not include any foreign manufacturer. This will encourage the domestic manufacturing of solar modules.
