Just had a similar problem with a Cyberpower UPS that turned off overnight. I installed the Cyberpower Software and initated a self-test which immediately switched the UPS off. I replaced the UPS with a known good one and the self-test just switches the UPS to battery power and back online again. So when this self test fails, the battery is bad.
